This is inspired by several small thoughts. And it has been made possible by my love.

There are innumerable reviews about the iPad but I will shamelessly give you my perspective on this wonderful device. I enjoy my solitary coffee in the evenings in a secluded corner of a coffee shop. If I am at a beach, I love to read a book in the shade. Sometimes I want to write something , and there are times when I just want to watch a small music clip. There are occasions when I want to catch up on current affairs and there are occasions when I want to take an uninterrupted dive into a fiction novel. I make lists to remember stuff and I often check my calendar to get a bird’s eye of the month at hand. I feel the need to be able to access important files and documents that i store online. Also since I am a slave of the corporate, and of social networking, I want to checkup on mails and Facebook. My extra special touch is that sometimes, I want to draw cartoons as well.

Yes, indeed. This wonderful device allows me to do all this. Connect it to the wifi that the hotspot on my phone allows me to broadcast and it whirrs into action. Its slim form factor allows me to drape it in a leather sleeve and it becomes as indiscreet at a leader folder. But the killer blow is the 10 hour of battery life that it can manage. That tops it all.

In my romantic vision, I used to think of myself as a modern nomad. This person was someone who braves the heat and the humidity of the land, takes a dusty bus ride to remote towns, wears dust laden jeans and boots, eats street food and does not fall sick and does other such nomadic stuff. But he was also the person who knows his way around a google map, who reads up about current affairs online, makes lists on a device rather than on paper and listens to songs on his iPod.

A weaker stomach, a propensity to headaches from the sun, and a growing love for my leather couch are taking me away from the nomad unfortunately. But with my iPad by my side, its safe to say that i am covering the ‘modern’ part well.
